We thought of all our favorite spots for brunch in San Diego, and somehow managed to get it to manageable list of our 6 favorites. Next time you and your friends take a morning class, keep the fun going by treating yourselves to one of these amazing brunches:
Breakfast Republic: Not only does Breakfast Republic have great food and awesome décor, but they also have 5 different locations in San Diego – East Village, Encinitas, Liberty Station, Ocean Beach, and North Park. This makes getting breakfast so much more convenient wherever you live, and with their funky and innovative approach, they make breakfast fun. They offer delightful takes on some breakfast classics, like Lemon Coconut Pancakes, S’mores French Toast, and even Breakfast Hot Dogs! Add in a huge rotating selection of craft beers on tap and innovative craft cocktails, and you have a combination that is tough to beat.
Café 21: Café 21 has two locations, one in the heart of the Gaslamp Quarter of San Diego, and the other on Adams Avenue in University Heights. Cafe 21 focuses on sustainable farming practices, utilizes only local, organic ingredients, has tons of gluten free options, and live music 7 days a week! With Sangria flights, Cast Iron Omelettes, and Tiramisu Pancakes on the must try list, Cafe 21 is sure to have your mouth watering and your taste buds singing. The fun and inviting atmosphere makes this brunch spot a great place to meet up with friends or family.
The Cottage: The Cottage in La Jolla is a staple brunch spot. They have a relaxed family feel and are just a short walk from the beautiful beaches in La Jolla. Known for knockout dishes like their fluffy Lemon Ricotta Pancakes and delicious Mexicali Eggs Benedict with Roasted Poblano Hollandaise and Corn Cakes. A beautiful outdoor patio and amazing location makes this the perfect place for brunch before a relaxing day by the ocean. After all, you deserve it after that Burn Class, right?
Great Maple: On weekends Great Maple calls it “Blunch,” serving breakfast and lunch from 8AM-2:30PM. They will soon have multiple locations including one on the edge of Hillcrest, and another opening soon in La Jolla. What makes Great Maple truly special is its focus on made-from-scratch recipes and rotating seasonal ingredients. With the combination of their large breakfast and lunch menus, you will have a lot to choose from. Widely known for their Brunch Cocktail list, they have the perfect libations to start your Sunday Funday.
Snooze: Don’t be fooled by the name, Snooze’s insane menu will have you sit up and take notice. From their pancake flight including a Pineapple Upside-Down Pancake to their Breakfast Pot Pie, they have something no matter what flavor you are looking for. Combined with truly amazing cocktails like the Boss Hog Bloody Mary that features a huge piece of thick cut bacon, you are in for a truly one of a kind experience. They don’t take reservations so be prepared for a wait at this one, but it will be worth it (we promise). Locations in Hillcrest, Del Mar, and La Jolla makes it an easy spot to visit, so make sure you do!
Lofty Coffee: Lofty Coffee is an excellent place to stop for breakfast on the go and features some of the best coffee in Southern California. With their 3 widespread locations in Solana Beach, Encinitas, and Little Italy, it is perfect for that quick caffeine fix with friends no matter where your stomping grounds are. In addition to amazing coffee, they offer a full menu of organic, locally sourced breakfast and lunch items along with incredible fresh baked pastries from their bakery.
